CHARACTERS COLLECTION

This page is a collection of characters similar to the ones discussed on the Characters page, as found at sites all over the world. There are a surprising number of them, most at sites that are selected for the presence of rock images. The frequent combination of ancient characters and possibly less ancient images may be caused by the later use of more ancient, revered, sites. Current analysis is limited to visual inspection of the characters, and drawing limited conclusions on this basis. A better approach would probably be to make use of pattern recognition computer programs. These would probably be able to extract more information on timing and lineage, based on the limited information on dates available. For the moment, the reader will have to draw his own conclusions.

On the bulging rock; San Juan, Bolivia. This and the following three pictures are form the website of the Bradshaw foundation that concentrates on rock art. It seems the characters did draw their attention. Possibly the paitings where made at sites that were already in use.
