Yonaguni, other finds
 |
Here it is clearly visible how the two halves of the "Face" differ, and that
the interpretation of the right hand part as a Moai statue looks closer to
the truth. However, a third possibility is to concentrate at the bottom half
of the right hand side, since there is also the vague impression of a pair
of eyes above the mouth.

Once having seen how highly stylized the features of the
monument are, one starts to look at other things more carefully. Note that
the plateau seems to have to two grooves in it, which from this view make it look like
the stylized claw of a lion. And doing the same with the "Face" feature,
in its left half, slightly
bulging out, one can almost just as easily see a lions head. More vaguely,
one can also see the right "eye" as the mouth of a face above it. Taking
everything seen in the Yonaguni
Sculptures gallery and the
Marcahuasi
gallery, one could easily draw the conclusion that it is the intention of
the makers of the images to make them as ambiguous as possible. In this one
can also see a line, in that Yonaguni is the most ambiguous, and Marcahuasi
the least. |
