The title of the page carrying pictures 1 and 2 is 'The trace of slotwedge under water', describing the line of holes between Ishibutai and Sekihi Iwa. Another page at the website references to the expert of masonry Mr. Kotaro Maza, who concluded that these marks were wedge holes, made in order to cut the rocks; picture 3 shows how this could be done (he also concluded it could also be done using wooden tools). The possibility that the slotwedge construction method was also used for the construction of the monument was resolved, they say, by investigations from 1998 to 1999, which turned out positive according the the Okinawan website (for the not very understandable original text click here). It also mentions finding this construction method at several places on the islands; pictures 4 and 5 are from Hikawa Beach at the southern coast of Yonaguni.
